At Bekina, sustainability is anchored in our day-to-day business operations. We make a resolute choice for sustainable solutions. We not only strive for a sustainable product cycle (our boots last three times longer than rubber or PVC boots, for example), but also seize the opportunity to make a difference for people and the planet in everything we do. As a responsible world player, Bekina attaches a lot of importance to its certificates and partnerships. From the quality labels we have earned to the local and international sustainability initiatives we are part of.
BEKINA’S SUSTAINABILITY ROADMAP
Sustainable production and enterprise is a challenge. That's why we’ve set attainable goals as part of a phased approach to achieving our mission: the development and production of high-quality products without a negative impact on the environment. We are aiming for CO2-neutral production by 2040. Our focus here is on: energy, waste, mobility and product development.
We use big and small successes to continue working towards our high ambitions. We are following an intensive but realistic plan, taking the 17 sustainable development goals established by the United Nations into account.
In the area of direct and indirect emissions controlled internally, we are working towards the following energy and mobility milestones.
- 2025: -30% CO2
- 2030: -75% CO2
- 2040: -100% CO2
To achieve these milestones, we operate a zero-waste policy with regard to energy and we are reducing CO2 emissions from transport flows.
In terms of everything that falls under indirect emissions beyond our direct influence in relation to mobility, waste and product development, we are committed, in cooperation with our partners, to achieving the following milestones:
- 2025: -11% CO2
- 2030: -31% CO2
- 2040: -100% CO2
In order to achieve these, we are focusing on reducing our waste streams by 20% and we are committed to integrating mechanically recycled materials into our new products.
