Bekina earns the UNITAR SDG Pioneer certificate once again
Sustainable entrepreneurship is firmly embedded in Bekina's operations. On 23 October 2025, we received the UNITAR SDG Pioneer certificate for the second time. This international recognition, valid for three years, rewards companies that take clear and demonstrable steps within the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Through the Voka Charter for Sustainable Entrepreneurship (VCDO), we are working on concrete actions within the five Ps - People, Planet, Prosperity, Partnership and Peace. This process forms the basis for growing into an SDG Pioneer within the PCA2030 Sustainability Process, which was developed by CIFAL Flanders with the support of UNITAR.
Bekina achieved the title of SDG Pioneer for the first time in 2020 by meeting the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and more specifically by implementing an action in each of those SDGs spread over three years. Since 2025, UNITAR has been working with a new evaluation model. To obtain the certificate, the following conditions must be met:
- At least one time VCDO laureate.
- An annual positive evaluation for 10 actions from the sustainability action plan, spread across at least 4 of the 5 Ps (People, Planet, Prosperity, Partnership and Peace), of which at least 2 actions fall within the core business.
- Working on strategically embedding sustainability in the organisation through 12 sustainability criteria, such as training, knowledge management, vision development, stakeholder analysis, and internal and external communication about ambitions.
Following a thorough and independent audit – carried out in Belgium by VOKA – the certificate is awarded to organisations that successfully meet all these criteria.
We are proud of this renewal of the SDG Pioneer certificate. It confirms our efforts over the past year and the international recognition thereof. We remain committed to continuing to build a sustainable future, step by step.
